Dear Mom and Dad (Short and Sweet)
Thursday, October 17, 2013Warning: This is gonna be a pretty sappy and sentimental post, so I hope you bear with me here.
Upon coming home for fall break, I finally got to see the one person in my family who I had not seen since leaving- my dad. I am incredibly blessed to have the most wonderful parents. They have always given me freedom, but with that incredible trust that I will make the right choices. Growing up, sports have always been a huge part of my life, with TR playing football and varsity baseball and wrestling (what a champ) and me naturally failing at every sport under the sun until I found out what I really wanted to do. I remember about a month ago one of my friends asking me if my parents had pushed me into doing crew and through all the training and blood, sweat and tears (literally) that went into getting recruited. The amazing thing is that they never did.
My parents showed me tough love throughout high school, but it was always because they knew that I wanted and needed guidance, especially when I felt most down. There were times- especially in crew- that I felt like I had no idea what was going to happen next, but my parents were always there with a plan to pick me up and help me get going again. So with that to conclude, thank you mom and dad for being incredible parents who have been able to show me what hard work can do. Thank you for being able to support my dreams. I could not be where I am today without you.
P.S. Dad, thanks for making me read the paper all the time. You were right- it is cool to know what's going on in the world.
