A Day in New Canaan

After going to school with most of Fairfield County, I decided to finally make a trip to Connecticut for a day trip before heading down to New York. First, let me just say that Connecticut is beautiful- there are a lot of beautiful houses and cute neighborhoods and great foliage going on. It also helped that it was 80ยบ and sunny with clear skies.

We started the morning by waking up at a fairly decent time and headed to downtown New Canaan for the "typical New Canaan brunch," a bacon, egg and cheese and coffee from Tony's Deli. Let me just tell you, it was amazing, so amazing that we are getting another bagel sandwich before getting on the train tomorrow. We also went to a darling coffee shop next door for iced coffee and hot chocolate and it had really adorable decor with tons of college pennants.

We then headed over to Sherwood Island State Park. I have to give a lot of credit to Westport for having really great little beach with blue skies and blue water. Despite the fact that I forgot to put on sunscreen in probably the only place that the sun hit me, it was as enjoyable as you can imagine any time being at the beach in the summer.

We then headed over to downtown Westport where there were the cutest shops
and decided to stop at a new place in Darien called "Palmwich," known for making soups, sandwiches and salads that can be eaten while driving, so naturally we had to try it out (super yummy!). We also drove around and saw some of the really cool landscapes and buildings in the towns, as well as Wavenly Park in New Canaan, a fabulous park that was donated  property and features a beautiful castle- like house.
I know, I know- basically professional food photographer status right here

Let me just say, if you ever get the opportunity to visit friends from college at their homes (if they haven't deemed you too crazy enough already), then definitely do it. It's really cool to see what their life is like outside of school and what their hometown is like. Madeline (who's room I featured back in February) and her family are awesome and her room at home may even top her amazing one at school. Her mother has an amazing DIY and decor blog, Most Lovely Things- definitely worth checking out.

Brief and jam-packed, I have to say I had a great time in Connecticut. Thank you so much Madeline and the Diamond family for hosting me and I am looking forward to more adventures to come in New York!

Happy Monday! Hope you have a great start to the week!
