Thursday Thoughts: The Best People

I think that one of the biggest lessons I've learned at Bucknell is the importance of who you surround yourself with. I wish that before coming to college someone had told me that not everyone is going to like you. Not saying that I have more "haters" than the average person - it's just that there 7 billion people on this Earth and not all of them are going to love you. In addition there are amazing people that I have met and many that I am privileged to call some of my best friends. It's funny though, because though they are all such different people, there are a couple of traits that I have noticed in these awesome people that I am trying to incorporate in my own life.

"Nice, honest and real." Some really good advice that I was given recently is that some of the happiest people (and best to be around) out there are these three things. Preach.

Smiling and saying hi There is something about smiling or saying hi that for whatever reason makes me really nervous. WHY IS THIS. I know I'm not the only one here. One of my friends Olivia from high school always had no problem saying hi to everyone, and in return was always someone people remember as being a ray of sunshine. If there is anything that I have learned from the Yik Yak app, it's that people don't do this enough and it's really appreciated when people do.

Showing genuine interest I think that it's pretty normal that when we are talking to people that we want to share what we are doing, but the most awesome people are willing to listen to others and ask questions too.

Happy Thursday! Hope you have an amazing start to the weekend!
