Weekly Thoughts: Waiting
Sunday, May 31, 2015Since I've been home, getting into a routine has been challenging, to say the least. It's tough having a to do list without the structure of school! One of the hardest things has been working out. Like many people on the Earth, I struggle with the ever so destructive "I'll do it later." This has often resulted in me having to go on a run at 11 pm fearing my life.
I came across this photo I took last summer in Martha's Vineyard and I think it's a perfect summary of defining the rules and just making the jump. At the beginning of the year (by the way, how is it almost June?) I said that 2015 was going to be the year of "just doing it"- organizing my room, eating healthier, making videos and for the most part it's been pretty successful.
Anyone remember the Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events? Well for start, nothing about those books made sense and it always annoyed me that he never showed his face in interviews. He quoted "if we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting the rest of our lives." This really stuck with me. I fall way too often into the rut of "waiting for a sign," whether it be to go to the gym, ask a tough question or generally do something intimidating. The problem is that no one is going to be able to push us off the cliff (for the most part). That's up to us. Though I think that I'll still be a procrastinator in some ways, this summer I'm going to keep this quote in mind and maybe will make a few more jumps going into summer.
Here's to jumping into June! (I hate that I just wrote that.)
